Bristle Boom Rig

The bristle boom rig is a paternoster (aka ledger, dropper) rig that utilizes bristle booms to make the snoods stand off from the main rig body at a better angle. This helps prevent them tangling and presents the baits better as the stiffer bristle booms give them a more enticing movement in the current. As with other paternoster type rigs this is a good all round general rig that can be used in most fishing situations.

Pennel Rig (Fixed)

The pennel rig is a trace / snood that is used when fishing with large baits for example a whole pilchard or baby squid. Generally the bottom hook is larger with the top hook either sliding or snelled in a fixed position. The advantage of having the hook in a fixed position is that if your bottom hook gets bitten off the top one is still able to hold the fish on. The disadvantage is that you can’t slide the top hook to suit different sized baits.

Anti Crab Trace / Snood

A trace that uses floats to keep your baits up off the bottom and away from the paddle crabs. If you find your baits are getting stripped within seconds of hitting the water then paddle crabs may well be the culprit.  This trace will keep your bait out of their claws and will also make it more visible to fish as it sits up off the bottom giving your bait an enticing movement that will attract the attention of any nearby fish.

DVICE Bait Capsule Paternoster Rig

This is a simple paternoster/ledger rig that incorporates the use of the DVICE bait capsule. The DVICE bait capsule is perfect for streamlining big baits or protecting delicate baits from the forces of casting and impact with the water. It is basically a tube that incorporates a breakout sinker in the end of it. The baited hook is placed inside the tube when casting and is ejected by jets of water rushing into the tube upon impact with the water. It also has the added advantage that it planes to the surface on retrieve helping prevent your line from snagging on any obstructions on the sea bed. The DVICE bait capsule comes in a variety of sizes and weights. It uses the Gemini sinker nose cone so different leg lengths and tips can be used as they simply screw into the end of the capsule.
